On the last day of a Korea trip, knowing the order of airport procedures matters as much as reaching the airport. The terminal, check-in, baggage, security, customs and tax refund steps connect to one another, so separate what to prepare the night before from what to do at the airport.

Recheck the flight and terminal the night before

Use the airline app or booking page to confirm the date, terminal, check-in window and baggage rules. At Incheon, the terminal can vary by airline, and a codeshare may require checking the operating carrier. Save your passport, required documents and route from the accommodation in one place.

Leave more time than you expect for the airport

Check one main route by rail, bus or taxi and one backup for delays. Roads and queues can grow during rush hours, weekends, holidays and events. Allow separate time for check-in, bag drop, security and immigration, following the airline’s recommended arrival time.

Separate tax-refund goods before checking bags

Keep eligible items unused with their refund documents. If they go in checked baggage, tell the airline staff at check-in that they are tax-refund items and follow instructions so customs can inspect them. Keep cabin items, passport and receipts together and easy to present.

Follow the order after check-in

Online check-in may not remove the need for bag drop or document checks. After receiving the boarding pass, locate security and immigration, then estimate the walk from the duty-free area to the gate. Pack liquids, batteries and sharp items according to airline and airport rules.

Check the gate before shopping

Before eating or shopping in the departure area, confirm the gate and boarding deadline. Some gates require a long walk or an internal train, and gates can change. Keep your passport and boarding pass accessible, charge your phone and listen for announcements.

Do a final document, refund and luggage check

Before departure, check your passport, boarding pass, phone, wallet, refund receipts and belongings from the accommodation. Refund steps vary by airport and method, so follow the kiosk or counter instructions. Ask an airport desk or airline staff first if anything is unclear.
