Buying an umbrella in Korea

A practical rainy-day guide to umbrellas, wet items and travel routes.

An umbrella is easy to buy; managing a rainy day takes a little more planning.

Check the forecast

Plan an indoor-friendly route before leaving. Rain, wet shoes and long transfers can change the whole day.

Buy for the day

Convenience stores and shops near stations may have umbrellas. Price, size and stock vary.

Manage water indoors

Use umbrella sleeves or stands when provided and keep wet umbrellas out of walkways.

Protect shoes and bags

Bring spare socks or a bag cover when walking a lot. Let wet shoes dry at the accommodation.

Reduce the itinerary

Choose one nearby area and combine indoor places rather than adding long wet walks.
