Check the registration method first
Look for a staff member, kiosk, tablet or paper list and follow that venue’s process. Enter party size and contact details carefully, then read the estimated wait and entry conditions. Keep a photo of a ticket if useful, but do not show other people’s personal information.
Stay close enough to hear the call
Find out whether the restaurant calls over a speaker, text message or app. Explore only within a distance where you can return quickly, and ask whether a missed call requires a new registration. If possible, have one person stay near the entrance while others use the restroom.
Read the menu and conditions while waiting
Check the menu, minimum orders, one-person rules, spice level and allergy questions before you sit down. Confirm units, prices, add-ons and sold-out items instead of relying only on photos. If you have a restriction, ask what is possible before entry.
Put a limit on the wait
An app estimate can change with table turnover and preparation. Set a cut-off if you have a booking, performance or last train, and choose a nearby alternative if the limit passes. Keep any short walk in the same neighbourhood rather than adding a distant attraction.
Follow the seating call
When called, make sure the whole party is ready and do not combine or swap seats without asking. Follow the staff’s seating order. Ask before bringing a late guest, stroller, large luggage or a request for a child seat.

Check whether payment is at the table or counter, collect the receipt and move away from the entrance after eating. Save the next address and station exit before you leave. A calm queue keeps the doorway and nearby pavement usable for everyone.
