A small supermarket stop can make breakfast, late arrivals and a quiet evening easier. Start with your accommodation and travel time, then buy only what you can use.
Check your accommodation first
Korean supermarkets offer fruit, drinks, prepared food and household basics, but hotel rooms differ. Check for a refrigerator, microwave and dishes before buying.
Choose the right size of store
A nearby neighborhood market is convenient for a few items. A larger supermarket can offer more choice for several meals or gifts. Check each branch’s opening hours and closures shortly before you go.
Read labels and multipacks slowly
Prices may include size, discount conditions or multipack terms. A large pack is not always useful on a short trip. Check use-by dates, storage instructions and allergens.
Prepare payment and a bag
Stores can have staffed and self-checkout lanes. Card and contactless acceptance vary, so follow the screen or staff guidance. Some bags cost extra; bring a reusable bag if practical.
Think about temperature on the way back
Avoid refrigerated or frozen food if the journey to your accommodation is long. Put chilled items away first and follow your accommodation’s waste guidance for packaging.
