Seoul’s mountains and walking trails can add nature to a trip. Check route, weather, descent and transport in one order for a safer day.
Check difficulty and descent time first
Routes near Seoul differ sharply in slope, stairs and distance. Allow a generous return time and choose a route that gets you down before dark.
Recheck weather and trail notices
Rain, wind, heat, fine dust and ice can change a short route. Check the forecast and official closures just before departure.
Carry water, layers and map power
Bring water, a small snack, suitable layers and non-slip shoes. Keep a phone map and power bank, but read trail signs if signal is weak.
Plan the last transport and take rubbish out
Trail entry and exit can differ. Check your final bus or subway before starting and carry all rubbish back with you.
Be more cautious alone
If you are tired or lose the route, turn back rather than continuing. Tell someone your rough plan and use local emergency help if needed.
